How changes to Google My Business can affect you!

Google has announced that a few changes to how the analytics of Google My Business will be making some improvements. These improvements mean that users will be able to look at more recent data, which will enable a more accurate idea of how business listings are performing. Google My Business Listing is a key component of any SEO strategy. Research shows that people prefer to find local businesses such as local tradespeople, cafes and restaurants. But what really is Google My Business, well it is a free tool that lets you manage how your business appears on Google Search and Maps. That includes adding your business name, location, hours photos and customer reviews. Google My Business listing is a great place to focus on if you’re just getting started with local SEO.  Now we move on to looking at Google My Business insights. Insights is a section within Google My Business which allows business owners and managers to see how well or poorly their local listings in Google Maps or Search is doing. It helps them understand how people find their local listings in Google. In simple terms it is basically a smaller version of analytics for your Google My Business listings.

So, what is changing and how will this affect your business? In the past when looking at your reports on Google My Business the data shown would be a couple of days old. However, with these new changes the data shown will be as recent as from yesterday. Having more recent data will help your business in being able to more accurately compare trends and evaluate your performance. An example of this if there is a huge increase in walk-in traffic from one day to another you will be able to see the cause of this the next day instead of having to wait 3 to 4 days for this information. This will enable you to see what improvements need to be made to be able to keep up the increase in traffic.
